Wembley Operatic Society quiz

The KAOS team retained the cup tonight (Dec 17) by taking the lead in the final round. This was greeted by calls of “not again” etc… Only a small amount of gloating took place. A picture of the team will follow as soon as it gets emailed to me ……

Saturday of show week is always about endurance! Arriving by 1 pm, performing the matinee and then turning around again for the evening show. And in everyones mind the thought of the derig and the midnight pizzas!

Peter Heimann

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Peter Heimann.
Peter was a great supporter of KAOS for many years, performing with us on stage, helping with scenery building and more recently - as his health deteriorated - he had been helping Front of House..

Peter was a true gentleman with a wicked sense of humour who will be very sorely missed.

Loft clearing at QMC

Here are some pictures of the “light” days work at QMC … Cliff will be posting an entry soon describing how the day went ….

Well finally I post!! The day went well although there was a lot more rubbish to cart off to the dump than we thought, I lost count of the number of trips I made! We also need about 50 more plastic crates to finish the job off. As that represents an outlay of about another £ 250 we need to undertake a specific fund raising event for that. The aim of the Amanda Rose Collection is to create a working collection of costumes that are seen and used on a regular basis. We are thinking now about the best way to progress that desire. Watch this space.

Kingsbury International Day

Monday, September 17th, 2007

Dear all,

the sun shone and our yellow flyers were visible from a long way away! I have just got back in from the above event (well, about an hour and a half ago, actually) and wanted to just provide a quick report.

The organisation of the event itself could have been better and the fact that the day was being shared by two events in adjacent fields, and our location in the smaller field, meant that we were less in the centre of things than we would have liked. However, we made the most of the opportunity and some of us dressed up in costume and distributed literally hundreds of ticket order forms to members of the public whom we might not otherwise have reached. We will have to wait and see what effect this has on ticket sales!!

A number of members were there to represent the Society and we gave a short rendition of three songs to the assembled crowds which was well received by the people listening.

We took a booking for 2 tickets and, much more impressively I think, we signed up another GOLD Patron - the delightful Josefina Holmes (Josefina Gabrielle).

So overall a successful day for KAOS despite some misgivings around the organisation of the event itself. Many thanks to the gallant team that came along to support the event - I won’t mention them by name in case I miss someone out (you know who you are) !!
